A landing spot for the artsy, passionate, and easy going, East Nashville is full of character no matter where you go! One of Nashville’s largest parks, Shelby Bottoms is located in East Nashville. It’s the ideal spot for a jog or a walk, setting up a hammock, or setting up a picnic at any hour. Shelby Bottoms also boasts bike trails, is pet-friendly, and stroller friendly. Grab your bff, pets, or yourself and enjoy this beautiful park. Right around the corner you’ll find East Nashville burger royalty at Pharmacy Burgers (the best buns in town), or head across the street for Mas Tacos (but don’t forget cash.) Pharmacy has killer burgers, an adorable beer garden, and a fun atmosphere all tied up in one! It has tons of outdoor seating. Our favorite indulgences here are the chili burger, black bean burger, chicken pesto sandwich, sweet potato fries, and the tots – an absolute must! Pair any of these with a crisp beer from their huge selection of taps, and you’ve scored the perfect meal. Tacos over burgers? That’s cool – Mas Tacos has arguably the best tacos in town. They stay true to Mexican culture and serve them with tons of flavor. It’s a win-win.
Mexican food definitely isn’t lacking in East. Rose Pepper (if this rings a bell, it means you saw their famous sign online) will soon become your favorite spot. Cheap and delicious margaritas, over the top yummy queso, and a huge assortment of taco options is exactly what you will find here. Our go to bites from Rose Pepper are the carne asada fries, buffalo white cheese dip, avocado fries, cabo tacos, and the de carmon! For the tequila fans, you’re in luck! Rose Pepper has won the title for Best Margarita in Nashville for 11 years now – trust us, they’re good.
Looking for the most instagrammable spots? Cafe Roze is perfect for you. As a charming, quaint cafe, even local Kristin Cavalari has voted it as her personal favorite restaurant in Nashville. With a pink and marble interior, neon signs, and dreamy bar space, this is the perfect spot to get a shot for insta, sip a latte or grab a drink at happy hour. Cafe Roze specializes in both brunch and dinner. Our favorite brunch bites and sips and this local favorite are the roze bowl, stout waffles, savory oats, green goddess salad, and the roze latte! For evening munchies, we love the avocado hummus, simple pasta, paprika chicken, roasted carrots, espresso martini, and any of their absolutely delicious wines. Also, don’t skip the french fries – they may be the best in the city. This is a very small and intimate setting, so definitely make reservations ahead of time to assure a seat. Perfect spot to take a girlfriend for a morning coffee or night time cocktail.
A quick stop in Five Points will bring you more tacos at Cheap Charlie’s, a locally loved food truck situated right at the intersection. Stop by and shop for pups, gifts, and really anything you can imagine at Fatherland Shoppes, or swing by Nashville’s first creator house Of Note. No matter where you turn, Five Points has something for you. If you are looking for somewhere to suggest visitors in town to stay, Vandyke in the Five Points area is the most charming boutique hotel. With multiple themed retro style rooms, an amazing bar, and gorgeous patio, Vandyke is sure to have something to offer for anyone. Don’t fret, you can grab a cocktail at their adorable bar even if you’re not staying at the hotel. They have an amazing happy hour every day from 3-6PM weekly with all of the best specials in town. Our favorite happy hour offering is the $5 glasses of rose!
Grocery shopping is at peak in East. Stop by the East Nashville Farmers Market every Tuesday from 3:30-6:30, and find vendors galore serving up all of the best locally grown crops in Nashville. Some of our favorite vendors at the market are the Peach tTuck, Alfresco Pasta, Hidden Holler Farm, and Pied Piper Creamery. They also have a rotating line up of food trucks that visit, so you don’t have to shop hungry! The Gallatin Pike Kroger is recently renovated and great at any hour, or shop on the healthier and local side at Turnip Truck. Make sure to stop by their hot bar that always features plant-based options.
