You’ve stepped into one of the most up and coming spots in town: SoBro. Home to Wedgewood Houston, one of our favorite areas in town, you can’t miss. For the caffeine lovers, Americano Lounge is a must visit spot. It’s super trendy, but the perfect place to kick back for a cocktail or hunker down and knock out some work. They also have an extensive cafe menu and awesome, friendly owners. Americano Lounge is known for their famous and delicious espresso martinis, but honorable mention goes to cocktail honorable the Irish Coffee, Bohemia After Dark, the Holiday, and the Giant Steps! Not sure what to get? Grab a coffee flight and try everything. Looking for a cozy, homey vibe? Head a few blocks over to Humphreys Coffee. Order a toast or coffee option, then head to a seat and enjoy the natural light. Humphreys also gives back to a non-profit, so feel good while you indulge.
Wedgewood Houston boasts one of our favorite clubs in town, Flamingo. This Miami Beach vibe spot offers craft cocktails, live music, and seasonal art displays. Enjoy a cocktail and dance inside, or sit outside on the patio and relax under the string lights. The hot pink building that you can’t miss has a disco ball you’ve seen on Instagram and always an incredible DJ. They even offer yoga classes every Sunday. Snag our favorite cocktail, the smoke show if not for the presentation alone! One of the coolest parts of Flamingo is that it turns into a coffee shop during the day. Known as Falcon, this is a true local favorite coffee shop. Their entire menu is also completely plant based and features local vendors that bake awesome vegan pastries. Day or night, you can’t go wrong here.
If you’ve ever stepped foot on the internet, you know what’s next. Pinewood Social is a retro bar, restaurant, bowling alley, pool and deck – so basically, everything you need in one. Book the alley online and enjoy craft cocktails in the most picturesque alley, or snag your laptop and take a meeting at the full service work area near the bar. They also offer a room to rent for karaoke, so bring a group with you and do everything in one spot. Their grilled cheese is to die for, and the brussels take the #2 spot. Every cocktail on the menu is beautifully crafted, so we can’t recommend anything. It’s physically impossible to go wrong. While you’re in the area, swing by JP Cafe. Newly opened to the public, this workspace and coffee shop in the entrepreneur center will help you focus and provide you with stellar drinks.
Head over to Pie Town area and catch a great workout at Boothcamp with bachelor alum Shawn Booth, or grab the best tacos in the area at Pie Town Tacos. Sound familiar? They have a food truck you may have seen around town, but their brick and mortar opened recently and has Nashville hot chicken tacos so it’s a staple lunch spot.
For country music lovers, the Listening Room Cafe will be your new night out spot in SoBro. A live, intimate writers round with all of the up and coming artists. You never know who you will see here! It could be someone brand new, or a legendary musician you already hear on the radio. Some of our favorite shows here have been seeing Chase Rice, Brett Young, Colbie Callait, Fillmore, and Jordan Davis. The Listening Room is a true treat for anyone who appreciates live music and a great bite during.
